Ok so let's talk about skin tones. A lot of people don't know exactly what skin tone they have, so I thought I would educate you on how to find your skin tone and what looks best with your skin! Here is a little test to find out what your skin tone is:
First: Check out the veins on your arm. If the color of your veins appear to be green, you have yellow undertones in your skin and therefore you have a WARM skin tone.
If you look at your veins and see more of a blue color, you have blue undertones in your skin and therefore you have a COOL skin tone.
The Second Test: If you can't tell from your veins, you can put a completely white towel or shirt around your neck. Look in your bathroom mirror (with the lights on), and the white towel will reflect the undertones of your skin. If you think your face looks more yellow, you have a WARM skin tone. If you see blue or purple, you have a COOL skin tone.
THIRD: If the above two tests didn't work for you, you probably fall under the neutral skin tone category. That means that you can pretty much wear anything and it will be complimentary to your skin. LUCKY YOU!
SO. . . what can you wear to compliment YOUR skin tone now that you know what it is? (This includes makeup & clothes)
COOL TONED SKIN: If you have cool undertones in your skin, then you should choose your eye shadow, blush, and lip colors from the cool color family. What is the cool color family? It consists of lavendars, grapes, cherries, wines, roses, and pinks. These colors will compliment your skin as well as neutral toned skin. You can still wear brown colors as long as they are a cool brown instead of a warm. For instance, gold is a very warm brown, but something with more of a charcoal color would be considered a cool tone.
WARM TONED SKIN: If you have warm undertones, then you should choose your makeup from the warm color family. The beiges and browns are considered warm colors. These include golds, mochas, spices, bronzes, and browns. Beiges and browns are good for warm to neutral skin tones. DO NOT be fooled though, there are still brown colors that have a cool tone to them.
NEUTRAL TONED SKIN: If you have neutral undertones, then you should choose colors from the neutral color families. Mauves and berries are considered neutral. Mauves and berries also include: mauves, berries, plums, burgundies, lilacs, and cranberries. These colors are good for cool to neutral skin tones but lean more toward neutral.
Corals and reds are also considered neutral. Corals and reds include: peaches, corals, oranges, brownish reds, tawnies, apricots, and all shades of red except for the bluish reds, which are considered cool. Corals and reds are good for neutral to warm skin tones but lean more toward the neutral.
TIPS???
So if you are going for a super natural look, try to wear colors that mimic the true shades of your skin tone. If you want your eyes to POP OUT then wear colors that are in contrast with your eye color. And if you are wondering if black looks good on you. . . it does! It compliments all skin tones and looks good on everyone! LAST but not least, never let your skin tone limit your inner artist! Play with different colors and be yourself! I hope this helps you understand your skin tone better! PEACE & BLESSINS.
Totally helpful!
